Yankee Waterfowlers Mentoring Youth Part III

Continuing pictorial prespective of the Yankee Waterfowlers Hunting Retriever Club Annual Kid's Day event.

TEAM TRAD partners with youth handler Sarah as she heels TRAD to the line for some water work marked retrieves. Irishwhistler found Sarah to be a "true natural" at confidently handling a Labrador gundog. Sarah told Irishwhistler she wants to learn how to hunt and it put a huge smile in his face.

Youth handler Sarah issues the "GIVE" command to TRAD as he presents a classic delivery of a bumper into her hand.

YWHRC member volunteers Jo Ann Reynolds and John McDermot prepare food for the hungry event participants.

These very special retrieving breeds endear themselves readily to kids and help to spark their interests in learning more about training, hunting, and conservation, a win - win formula with four legs and a tail! LOL.

YWHRC KID'S DAY participant Sarah, displays two great books that she won at the event. The smile on Sarah's face says it all, "every kid is a winner" and a grand time was had by all. As a YWHRC member volunteer, I can assure you that like meself, all of the mentors had a highly satisfactory experience working with these wonderful kids along with our retrievers.

These kids truly are the future of our outdoor sports and it is critical that we get as many involved as is possible. Make the commitment to. GIVE BACK, and share your time and knowledge with those who will shape and largely determine the future conservation and regulation of natural resources and outdoor sports activities. Organize a youth event with your club and reach out to share our great American outdoor heritage with kids who otherwise may not ever have the opportunity.

Enjoy ye retrievers and good training to ye all!

    Cheers Mates,

Sure beats video games and eating Cheetos! Show the kids the great outdoors.
