    New Tree Going In

Last year we were forced to take down a beautiful old maple. It was splitting threatening the house.

The new tree, a Redmond Linden, is going in right now. I ordered it a while back but it's been so rainy that getting it put in kept being set back.

I'll post pictures when it's done, IF I can figure out what my dang download glitch is. I'm sure it's operator error.

We had to take a couple trees down too, an ash and oak. We have a couple more ash that need to come down but one is providing so much shade and the other is home to my sparrow bird houses. We did have a young flowering crabapple planted but are still in the search for another couple trees to take the place of the ones we are loosing. Can't wait to see picture of your new tree.

The emerald ash borer has devastated the ash trees around here. The city is hemorrhaging funds taking all the dead dangerous trees so ash is definitely not a choice.

If you read my other post about the tree, the new tree came down the next day. The workers did not feel it needed staking but it sure did. We are in the recovery phase now but it's not looking good. Not worried since I have a year's guarantee and they will replace it.

The guys that put in our pear tree 3 yrs ago didn't stake it either so we did or would have probably lost it too. With our new tree this year the guys did run a huge metal pole down next to the tree and put a couple tie wraps around it. I didn't like that set up so took the pole out and staked it ourselves. We get a lot of wind from the west and the way they staked the tree wasn't helping.
