    Diet food...

I am not looking for a "Diet" kibble, but looking for a kibble to help put Grace on a diet. Age has slowed her down. We're checking thyroid. So I am looking at food. She is eating Evanger's Meat Medley, 30/12 351 kcals. I could put her on Annamaet Lean 30/7 350 kcals. Calories are almost identical. Do you think LOWER fat would make a difference?

I dunno ... it might. If you do end up trying the Annamaet though, please report back! I had been considering that one for Chloe as she gets fat just looking at food (kind of like me, LOL) but since Mulder didn’t do well with chicken and it was easier to have them on the same thing I hadn’t done it, but might want to in the future.

Have you tried just cutting portions and adding green beans? Chloe had been maintaining her weight well on Taste of the Wild Sierra Mountain (I think it’s about 330 calories/cup) - she seems to do better on GF when it comes to weight maintenance, but even so was only getting 1.25-1.5 cups a day despite being very active. She’s fine with chicken though - right now she’s eating PP puppy & rice which is chicken based and not having any issues with it, so maybe the lower fat Annamaet would let her eat a little more once her nutritional needs go back to normal.

Grace can eat anything. She's on 1 cup per meal and then a little bit of topper. I think with so little "food", green beans are kind of cruel! LOL I'll see what the thyroid panel says first before I change anything.

LOL ... Chloe would love to get 1 cup per meal .... she gets .75 for breakfast and if she’s looking chunky, .5 with green beans for dinner!

Ram gets 3/4 breakfast and dinner with green beans, small amount of salmon and berries. My vet recently suggested that I switch to one of the Rx diets so that I could feed him more, but still be less calories. Not interested.

I guess maybe she is getting too much compared to these 3/4 and 1/2 cup meals.

I put my dogs on Darwin (frozen raw) and Misty (at about age 10) really slimmed down without my trying. Both the dogs love it, I do add green beans to Bogey's because he's young and always looking for food and he needs to drop a couple pounds. Misty was always a bit heavy and it is so nice to see her look so sveldt!

She's been on raw. Not really an option all of the time. They are on kibble and natural toppers.

I do think lower fat makes a big difference but that is just my experience.
