Whining?

All of a sudden hodor has established a very annoying behavior.. Every night before we go to bed he gets a large milk bone biscuit.. Lately he takes the biscuit in his mouth runs up the stairs as routine for bed but now he whines when he gets in the bedroom.. He also lays on the bed with a toy whining.. I know he doesn't have to go potty because we do that before he comes up.. My husband said he had a shihtzu who used to do that and it was because he wanted to burry his "cookie" (biscuit or treat) but hodor has never been a digger.. Could that be it? Has anyone else experienced this? Or does anyone have any ideas how to stop this behavior before it gets worse?

Could be excitement over the toy or bone.

I'd completely ignore it.

I've tried telling him to go lay down and just a quick noise to get his attention and then he just goes right back to doing it.. I will try ignoring it next time!

Lark is a whiner under no particular circumstances. Well, sometimes to get attention but not always. I usually ignore it, shushing her doesn't work. Sometimes I give her a look and tell her "stop it!" and she does.

Daisy has done that when I've given her rawhides in the past. Not sure if she still does it because I don't give her rawhides. She would run around and whine and hop on furniture (that she's not allowed on) I worried that the rawhide was hurting her mouth - I did find a sore on her gums after the last time- so I don't give them anymore.

Can you give the treat downstairs a little earlier, maybe a half hour, and have him stay downstairs to eat it. Also, eliminate toys from the sleeping area, i.e., the bedroom at night is strictly for sleeping.

Thor whines while he chews and plays with toys - usually when he's in his own little world of fun, not when he's interested in involving us. They're almost like sounds of contentment so we don't correct him, it's pretty quiet (and cute...)

Someone was suggesting maybe it's because he's had a play mate recently and maybe she has stolen a cookie from him in the past?

When Grace is super happy, she takes something in her mouth and does this strange crying noise. We attribute it to her being joyful.

I wonder if he's waiting for a release queue to chomp on the bone? We always make Sophie sit nearby and wait while we prepare her food, and then release her to eat, but she's also started waiting for an 'OK' to go munch on a treat we've given her. I don't mind it so much, as she doesn't whine...she just stands there looking at me/us.
