    Update date on Hoover...

Hi.. all.. Hoover was transported to the overnight emergency vet for monitoring. The vet showed me the 4 inch packed hairball with a few tape worms hanging from it. The hairball is the reason for the part of the bowel that had restricted blood flow.. it was deep red. Vet said once she removed it.. the area began to pink up and she is cautiously optimistic about it. She was talking that a re section of bowel may be necessary had it not started to pink up. Hoover had a hard time waking up and vomited fluids when he did so. Vet said his stomach was so full of fluid. He now has a lion's cut to keep him from grooming until all his healed. My heart was just crying for him. His fever is gone and vitals are good. I transported him to the emergency vet for overnight monitoring. He was doing well when we got there even though very groggy. Late last night his vitals were great. This am.. he was sitting up and very alert and trying to escape the crate as they were changing his bedding. No food for a couple days until ready. He will be transported back to our cat vet by her son who lives in the area but works near her to save me a trip as it is an hour away. GREAT VET!! I will keep you all updated... I am so relieved so far. I hope he will eat and pass his bowel without further issues.

Thank u for all your well wishes..

Great update...good thoughts continue for an uneventful recovery.

Our little Maine Coon Thea had a tough time with hairballs despite daily brushing and daily cat laxative...at least she liked both the brushing and the gel. We managed to avoid any impaction but I was always worried. She was always in surgery anyhow for various cancers and dentals...my little Baltimore City stray (the epitome of Maine Coon in looks and personality) obviously didn't have the greatest first six months of life before being caught and vetted by the young woman I named her after.

Would Hoover give you permission to post a picture?

Thank you for the good news Hoover. Yes, can we see before and after photos? I promise not to laugh, I would never want to hurt his feelings.

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”
