Had a great experience the other day shopping at Costco during a pretty good rainstorm outside. It dawned on me there are rules for shopping at Costco or a Walmart or anywhere else for that matter.
1. When you stop to read the coupon handout make sure you stop your shopping cart in the middle of the busiest aisle you can find. The main aisle should do.
2. When you do stop to block an entire aisle with your cart make sure you flank the four kids you brought with you to really get maximum cover of the aisle. This way nobody should be able to get by you.
3. When walking down the aisles make sure you walk three or four wide. Somebody might get by you and take the last crate of 60 litre salsa containers.
4. If you are bringing your kids make sure they bring their skateboards and scooters with them. The other shoppers will appreciate the fact that you are stuffing your face with free samples while you kid takes up an entire aisle doing circles on a scooter.
5. During checkout make sure you get a close to the person in front of you as possible. Let them know you had that tuna fish for lunch. If you are over 70 make sure you ram them with a cart as well. You have a free pass because of your age.
6. Whatever you do. Do not under any circumstances have your membership card ready when you finally get to the cashier. Make sure it's deep in your purse or wallet. Having it ready only complicates things.
7. When exiting the building make sure you stop right at the only exit to the parking lot to get your keys out, put you membership card back in your wallet and put your coat on. Take your time nobody has anything else to do.
They are the worst designed stores I have ever been. Costco. Awful.

LOL! I think those are the rules for Wal-Mart as well Sometimes I think people TRY to block as much of an isle as possible for as long as possible.

Doesn't help that some of the isle have gotten smaller (along with the packaging although the price is still the same or higher). So you either have to wait 20 minutes for the princess in front of you to find what she is looking for, finish her conversation, check email/text, fluff hair or you turn around go down the next isle and come up on the other end.

Worst thing for me is people who 'save' a space in the checkout line for their spouse or friend, I will get behind them and be close to the cashier and then their spouse will show up with a huge shopping cart full of stuff and cut in front of me and person will say " I was saving this space"-- drives me crazy, just wait in line like everyone else.
I do give my dogs their Nature's Domain dog food though, since my vet recommended it and my dogs like it and it's cheaper than the Fromm I used to get.

I'm a heathen so I go to Walmart while everyone else is at church. It makes me crazy to go when it's crowded! Here's another one:
While walking through the parking lot, be sure to let your kids run ahead of you/keep talking on the phone/be completely oblivious so that you can totally freak out drivers who are trying to back out of parking spots.
Also: If it's pouring rain, BY ALL MEANS park your fully paid shopping cart in the anteroom blocking the exit door while your partner runs to bring the car around. No one else will need to exit before you do, and who doesn't love to dodge the resulting rows of triple-parked vehicles now clogging the fire lane at the exit?

I'm glad you mentioned the rain. I forgot as it was really raining the day we were there and people were blocking the entire front exit with vans and suv's loading them up.
Don't forget to make a thread online complaining about the 2% of people that are an issue while ignoring that 98% of the people are not like that. It really makes a positive impact
I always shudder when I remember they had to drive to get to the costco. If they drive cars like they do shopping carts it's a wonder any of them make it there in the first place.

You forgot the part about spending 500% more than you intended!
