Vectra 3D, no complaints at all. Although I agree sometimes people go a bit over the top I imagine I would if one of my dogs became sick or worse from it. My vet will not sell or prescribe it.
I just started using Trifexis about six months ago. I did not know about the issues at the time and honestly, I do believe some people are a bit over the top in their complaints. Anyhow, I have decided to stop using it once I was through the box (which my dogs have been fine with), mostly because it doesn't repel fleas or kill fleas until 30 minutes to four hours after they have bitten them. So, if a dog has an allergy to flea saliva, they still get bitten and if you have an indoor cat and fleas ride in on the dog and jump off without biting them, the indoor cat gets fleas. Just ask my cat! So, I guess it's not worthless, but it's not giving me the protection I want.
What is everyone using for their dog these days? I am hearing more and more about Advantage and Frontline no longer working. I don't worry about ticks except in certain areas certain times of the year -- when we go hiking. There are lots of stray cats, possums and other flea-carrying critters going through my yard on a regular basis.
Also, regarding heartworm, what are you using? Does ivermectin still work? I'd like something as gentle as possible as I do have a hard time treating my dogs for parasites they do not have, though I realize the heartworm needs a preventative.

Thanks. And yes, I agree. But if you read a lot of what is written about it, the vast majority is unfounded. Rimadyl used to have a similar following and a lot of vets would not carry it and now it's mainstream. I don't know the truth, and frankly, I don't really like any of this stuff. I just wish there were tried and true methods of protecting our pets without A. bubble wrap, or B. poison.
I agree. I would prefer not to use anything but fleas and especially ticks are a real issue where I live. As my vet says preventative is much better than treatment. And yes, Ivermectin is still effective for HW.
ETA - I have not found one tick or flea on either of my dogs since I began using Vectra 3D. I do not use it year round and am not one to apply it every 30 days either, more like every 40-45 days. (I don't suggest everyone do the same but it works for my 2.)
Advantix here. Tried many other products during these years, but I trust Advantix most.

I use Sentinel for HW and K9 Advantix II for fleas and ticks.

Revolution.
Revolution for us this year too. Vet says it should be a bit better at killing ticks than the Sentinel we've used for years. We did use Trifexis one year when Sentinel was not available, had no problems.
We have used Heartgard Plus for many years with no issues at all.
We use Fronline Plus for fleas and ticks (but only sparingly..not every month).
Heart guard and Advantix. We used Frontline Plus when Daisy was a puppy but stopped using it after a bad flea outbreak.
