    Weird talk with the vet.

Took Fran to the dental specialist today. The tech left to get something and the vet looked straight at me and we had this conversation.

Vet: "Have you ever had Tramadol?"
Me: "Fran's had Tramadol before. She does fine with it."
Vet: "Well, I wasn't asking if you had had it." Then, indicating the door, "She'll be right back. Michelle. Wait. Was that Michelle? Who was that?"
    Me: "Jessica?"
Vet: "Right, Jessica. She'll be right back with the estimate."

Good thing she's doing the surgery in the morning . . .

Sometimes really smart people are socially inept. Or a moron will be operating on your dog tomorrow.

I was kind of laughing. I mean, she honestly did not know which tech was just in the room. Or her name. She's really very on it but she was entirely focused on the issue. That's probably the sign of a good surgeon.

I re-read my e-mail. Fran is going in for surgery on August 10th. The surgery is scheduled to be the first of the morning. I wasn't clear on that and wanted to clarify since I'll probably be talking about this until then. I just figured that the surgeon would be more aware in the morning than in the afternoon.

Heh, well I know when I get to work and I know I am doing a great job on it and in the zone I often forget everything else around me. So quite possible the vet was so focused and thinking that everything else was blocked out.

I often catch my doctor doing that and I tend to break him out of it. Like when I sprained my ankle one time he was really deep in thought and telling me that I should trace the alphabet in the air with my foot to work my ankle. So I asked him if that was capital letters or lower case letters. It snapped him right out of it and made him laugh.

LOL, but I have to ask you, could you do it with only the one foot? I was told to do that for Plantar Fasciitis before getting out of bed each morning. It really helps but I could not, could not, could not do it with only the one foot that needed it. I kept my feet heels down on the bed, maybe if I'd lifted the one it would have worked.

LOL, I did it only sitting up in the chair and then had the foot doing the alphabet lifted up straight out in front of me, the other was flat on the floor. So I had no issues. Were you doing it lying down? I could see doing both feet then. Maybe if you bent the other foot at the knee so the one you weren't working on was flat on the bed that would hold it still.
