I would think a gallon of water and a tablespoon of bleach added, wipe it down and you'd be good to go.
I've always thought it was unsanitary to keep a used plastic cone of shame. Do you keep yours and how do you clean it?

We’ve kept ours ... they never got particularly gross, so just hot soapy water (antibacterial dish soap). I guess it would depend what it was used for. We have several laying around, but if it’s for more than a few days I try to borrow a Bite-Not collar from a veterinarian friend.

They don't last around here. Linus has figured out how to get any type of e-collar off (well, we've tried four types). The last one, however, lasted about ten days before I found it shoved under the sofa, mostly destroyed.
I used a Bite-Not collar on Sam when he got neutered and within days it gave him one of the worst hot spots I have ever seen (or smelled).

I just use Dawn on the stiff plastic ones.
The only one I had that got really nasty was one of those soft baby blue ones for a cat...that got tossed.

I have a Comfy Cone that I keep and use in place of the plastic cones.

I've got a couple of differing ones stashed behind the buffet in the dining room, i wipe them down really well with soapy water and if its got like really gross stuff on it a light bleach solution, then go over them again with a product from Home Hardware called Natura, it gets rid of greasy messes, and doesn't leave a harsh smell behind, think its got tea tree oil in it. And then water, and dry well. They do tend to get a bit trashed, but i like to have them in case i need one quickly.
When Scout had the coyote incident last year, his trainer lent me her Comfy Cone for him, but he was so good, he didn't really need one most of the time - i left the comfy cone when i wasnt home just in case. cleaned it up the same way before giving it back.

Mine has never gotten gross. I only put it on the dog if I'm not watching them closely so they don't end up wearing it a ton anyways. One time I got a super fancy cone with a velcro closure and soft fabric edges. I'd rather use that one than any of the others the vets have tried to give us so I'm glad I saved it.

We don't have any around, no one has needed one in a long time, even our neuters and spays. But if it wasn't damaged, I would clean it and reuse as many times as possible.

I keep them. No reason to toss them if they're not too wrecked, just wipe them clean as needed. I also have a bite-not collar and a comfy cone. The dogs seem to prefer the Comfy Cone.
