    Favorite lettuce?

What is your favorite lettuce and which don't you like? I'm taking a poll for constructing a salad. Thanks.

I grow several different lettuce in our garden. I like the looks of one called Speckles, green leaf with red speckles on it, mix it in with some Prizehead green lettuce and Amaze red lettuce. Interesting combination of colours, textures and subtle flavour differences.

When we do buy lettuce it's almost always either romaine or curly leaf lettuce.

A good butter lettuce is tasty! Otherwise romaine or iceberg, although I find them to be not unpleasant rather than flavorful. I like arugula, too, but DH not so much.

Depends upon the salad. Some salad greens are so tender they don't hold up well to other sturdy vegetables or heavy dressings. I like romaine for a sturdier lettuce needing salad. I use spring mix, butter lettuce, baby greens for more tender salads.

Romain hearts. Healthier than iceberg but still has a little crunch. I don't care for the purple or white whispy lettuce in some spring mixes that tastes bitter.
