    Dog terms.

As Lab people, I think most of us know what butt-tucking is. But what about those other words or terms we use that are dogcentric. Last night, both of these came up in our household.

Mouse Jerky: The dried out mouse carcass that my dog was chewing on when he came in from outside then promptly dropped on the living room floor. As in, "I guess that mouse jerky didn't taste so good after all, did it?"

Re-ate: The second round of the same dinner after it gets vomited up. As in, "You just puked up then re-ate all that fish, didn't you? I guess trying out that mouse jerky before dinner wasn't such a good idea after all, was it?"

What comes up in your house?

Fortunately, we haven't witnessed any mouse jerky around here, but re-ate, definitely.

I know we have some dog terms I'm not sure others use, but the only one I can think of right now is:

Pupsqueak- that little noise at the end of a big yawn

Then there's always "klingon"- when your dog has eaten grass (or apparently a long hair) and they don't experience a clean drop when having a BM, but that's not too original.

And of course, "zoomies", which most of the long time members know but newbies often find puzzling, until they've seen it happen and the lightbulb comes on!

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

We call the Ex Pen 'Puppy Jail'. 'Walkies' is the word that sends him into a frenzy when we take him for a walk (specifically chose a different term so he wouldn't go bonkers if we used the word 'walk' in another context.)

And then there are the things from the dogs that get carried over to kids. The crate was jail, and the Pack & Play has now become toddler jail. Kids don't butt-tuck, though.

They might not butt-tuck, but get them sugared up enough and you'll see what they can do! Wa-hoo!!!

No kidding! Mine just ate leftover birthday cupcakes and now they are playing Pirate Fairy and Captain Hook, doing a sword fight with inflatable swords. The dogs, who are now geriatric, are comatose on the floor and have no earthly sense of what is happening. Just another day for them!
