and it feels so weird! We just got married a little over two weeks ago and I just changed my name today. I chose not keep my maiden name as a middle name because my maiden name and new name both start with P and the alliteration sounded funny to me so I just dropped it altogether. Still feel a little sad letting the old name go
Oh, congratulations!!!! You don't seem to have given us any clues this was coming up, or none that I saw. Wishing you and your new husband, whose name I've forgotten if you ever told us, all the very best!
I kept my maiden name as my middle name but after a very short time stopped using it. It does feel strange to change!
Congratulations again!!!

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

Congratulations! I'm sure that is a strange feeling! My sister is about to get married and it will be odd to think of her with a different name.
LOL, I got rid of my maiden name as quickly as possible and never looked back.

Thank you! We were engaged for 18 months. I planned the wedding while wrapping up law school and my mother in law took over everything while I studied for the bar. It was a very very busy summer for me between graduating, studying for and taking the bar, getting married, honeymoon, and to top it all off I start my job tomorrow!
Congratulations on your marriage and long, happy life together.
I wonder though, why did you change your name at all? Didn't you pass your bar exam under your maiden name? I kept my last name but women in Canada (outside Quebec I think) had only recently been allowed to do so and I got some interesting comments.
I almost didn't. A lawyer that has been my mentor for the past couple of years uses her maiden name legally and professionally and her married name socially. That was my plan until I realized how confusing it can become. When I decided that I would just change it, I was going to wait till September when the exam results are released so it wouldn't hold up my bar admission. I am required to amend my application within 30 days of anything changing, however, since I'm starting a new job, I figured it would be easier to just go into with my new name.
Congratulations on your marrige and graduating law school. You have been very busy.
Congratulations! You have had a very busy summer, the wedding, passing the bar and starting a new job.
I changed my name when getting married but used my maiden name at work. Reason, I was dealing with patients and their accounts (bills) and some were not nice people. Felt it was a better choice.
