    Entering AKC events

So I'm trying to enter some Rally and maybe conformation events. Seems to me, as a complete noob, it's very hard to do on the AKC website. I tried to enter a Rally trial at my local club, no way to enter online. Had to print out the form and mail it in with a check. Like it's 1980 or something. Ugh!

    Can somebody help me!!!!!!!

You need to find out who the Super is for your show, (Onofrio, MBF, etc...) and go to their site... OR Infodog, and go to their entry panels. The Super, or Superintendent will be listed in the Premium list for the show, either online or in the paper snail malied versions.

Do be aware that infodog charges like $3.50 per entry for fees.

Shelley gave you good info. I always do my entries through the show superintendent's site. Nowadays everything can be done online and paid for via credit card or PayPal. Do you belong to your local breed club? Maybe someone can help you fill out these first few entries? I know I needed a helping hand from a fellow club member the first time out.

When you go to Events on the AKC site, search for rally and future events in the states closer to you, it will list the even and the Super. Then you find their website and find the "open" show listings.

    For example, I found this:

Name Location Event Type Event Date Event Information

    Event Number: 2015125117
    Event Status: Approved

Newark, DE RLY Sep 25, 2015 AKC Rally® (Indoors)
    Jul 15, 2015 08:00:00 AM

    Sep 9, 2015 06:00:00 PM

    No Time Zone Available
    1
    $28.00 / $28.00

If you click on Wilmington KC, you'll find the event is being run by a private person, so you can call the event secretary for a premium if you can't down load it from the WKC site.

But if you go to the WKC site, you'll see the premium listed for this event right on the left hand side and you can open it in PDF.

From there, you should be familiar with the process.

Once you find shows in your area, the thing to keep in mind is that they happen every year at the same time. So for example, I can start planning for our big show in February in Denver because I know when it will be, how many days, etc. I just can't enter until the premium is out.

What everyone else said. But to add to that, if you are trying to enter one of the smaller Obedience/Rally trials (without an associated conformation show), the trend around here lately has been for clubs to try and save money by using a trial secretary (private person) rather than a superintendent, and yes, when they do that it does feel like the 1980’s, LOL.

Our local club does that. A lot of people wind up not getting their entries in the mail on time and dropping them off at her house. Thankfully she's a good sport about it.

Still in the eighties here obviously - fill in the forms and send them off in the post just like always! Mind you, I am also one of the very few who doesn't have a mobile phone and doesn't do facebook!!

I still mail mine in. With multiple dogs and multiple events, that 49 cent stamp is a steal. I think it's ridiculous for them to charge that fee to do something that likely saves them time (ie all the records are right there) in the long run so until the supers step into the new century, I'll stay in the old....
