    Sudden Loss of Our Wally

Our 13 year old mix Wally was normal this morning. Late afternoon he collapsed on the floor and wouldn't get up. He vomited and was panting. His breathing got worse and was very labored. We were going to take him to e-vet (would have had to carry him) but I didn't think I would make it. I called a vet who makes emergency home visits and while I was on phone with her he stopped breathing in my wife's arms. Vet got to our house in about 20 minutes and we helped carry his body to her van. I'm still shocked because it happened so quickly and we have no idea why. Vet mentioned ruptured hemangiosarcoma but I think they say that whenever it's sudden and it's just a guess. It happened so quick but what was so upsetting is that he did suffer over the last few minutes he could not catch his breath and kept arching his back and was whimpering, and we couldn't help him.

I am sad and in shock but my wife is devastated, he was 'her dog' and very attached to her. We rescued him when he was 5 months old, he was found walking down the street in Dallas with his mom who was a golden. We think his dad was German Shepherd although he may have had some chow in him, his tongue was part purple. He was very vocal, always making strange noises. Would go up to anyone and bury his had in their lap for affection. Was very protective of his younger brother Brutus.

We we will miss you Wally, thanks for being part of our family.

Very sorry for your loss of Wally. The sudden loss is very tough to deal with and I dealt with a similar situation two years ago on 9/3/13. I pray for your peace with Wally's passing and take solace in knowing you provided him with a great life and did all ye could to save him. Godapeed Wally!

I know how hard it is to watch them struggle and not be able to help. Have been through something similar. My heart breaks for you.
You will be in my prayers.
