    Little Cutie Pies

We met a lady with two puppies today. A four month old Blue Heeler (is that the same as a Kelpie?) and an 11 week old BC x Aussie. Oh, they were so cute. We popped out of a side trail onto a main right in front of them, though some hundred feet, at least, away. The puppies saw us and started barking and running towards us in glee. Oban just stood there and basically ignored them so they came to me and I got some nice pets in. The BC x was all fuzzy, wuzzy, cuddly and scoopable. Oh, so cute.

We walked along a little ways together then Oban and I split off to go to our car. The lady sounded disappointed. She didn't say but other people have, that Oban is good with puppies. If they are rude and old enough he'll pin them. If they are little and well mannered he's not interested in them. If they are little and snappy with him I have to save him. LOL I hope we meet them again.

wow brave lady to take on two herding puppies! that's pretty intense! (I keep saying I want a BC or a cattle dog when I retired, i can't handle one until raising one is my only full time job haha) Good thing Oban is good, lots of dogs they may run into may not be nice at all to puppies running up to them.

a blue heeler is an australian cattle dog (not the same as a kelpie)

i was hoping for a photo

Aww ... Good boy, Oban!!! I wish Oban lived here for my puppies to meet him! I don’t let them run up to strange dogs simply because you never know, but they could use more socialization with dogs not in their family.

I took Cookie to Chloe’s training class the other day. She’d never seen that many strange dogs in one place (probably about 7 or 8 total), and was a little apprehensive. First she barked at them, then submissively peed at the sight of an Irish wolfhound, LOL, but the wolfhound is good with puppies and they were quickly BFF’s. Watching her, it was pretty clear that until they sniffed noses Cooke wasn’t sure that the wolfhound was another dog! It was all of a sudden like “Oh, you ARE a dog! Let’s be friends!”.

I never thought to take a photo. Duh.

Two herding breeds, brave woman, that's what I said. She told me her old dog died and she was grieving so people at her work got together to get the blue heeler for her. Then the "breeder" of her old dog called up to say she had a litter ready to go, she caved in and went to look, and brought the little BC x Aussie home. I had wondered if the little x was part Sheltie, she was gold and white.

I asked about Kelpie because we met neighbours last week with their new puppy who looked a lot like the one today and they said she was a Kelpie.

Is that Cookie with the IW? She can reach it's head by standing on her feet?

Yes, that’s Cookie - she was on her tippy toes and the IW had lowered her head a bit, LOL. She is already taller than Sassy though - don’t know she’s just growing faster or if she’ll end up bigger.
