Murphy survived his first puppy class!

The day I've been looking forward to for a long time...puppy class.

He didn't seem so excited to get there - he barked the entire way there no matter how many times I told him he was going to make friends LOL We got there and he sniffed everything. This was his first "real" visit into the world (he's only been to the e-vet and the regular vet) and loved sniffing the floor, posts, rugs, etc. There were around 5 other puppies in the class with us, including a lab mix that was sitting next to us. They goofed off the entire class barking at each other and trying to play. Murphy did begin to learn how to focus in a busy class/environment. He did very well with his sit and his sit release command, but decided it was more fun to bark while the trainer was giving instructions. It was all fun and games until the end of class when another dog knocked a stool over and expressed his glands (yes, I've never seen it happen in a "nervous" setting). I guess the instructor didn't see it and was stepping in it and tracking it all over the floor. I could only sit there, cover my eyes, grab my folder, and run

So, Murphy met a few other puppies, barked for a good hour and a half, and even got to smell some "expressed glands"!

He's been sleeping ever since we got home which is wonderful for us! We walked in and he went right to his bed and zonked out. I'm thinking of taking him outside a little later and letting him swim if he's feeling energetic. It would be nice to sleep in tomorrow!

Good job Murphy being social......learning to be around others is an important thing. I love how my 3 dogs are so good around others. Post some pics of him.

Love the picture. Sounds like puppy class is going to be fun! Mocha was one of three dogs in his puppy class. The other two belonged to the same family. We didn't like the Dad very much. The dogs were goldendoodles. They were cute puppies and they got them from different litters. The Dad asked our trainer if "that one looked right". And our trainer responded that they are muts. One looked more "golden" and the other looked more "poodle". There is no breed or standard. She went on to say that they are good dogs, but he did not like her answer at all. I thought it was funny.

Good luck in class and have fun!

Good Murphy! I have to admit, I kind of miss puppy training. You'll have a great time.
