    Seizure during spay?

My sister's lab had her spay today. The vet said she had seizures during the spay. My sister is calling me back. I am worried sick for her dog. I am anxiously waiting for details. Mojo please.

There are so many reasons why she could have had it. Fasting, her blood sugar may have gone low. Acepromazine, used for induction, is thought by some to lower the seizure threshold. That doesn't mean she will ever have a seizure again. Then again, she might. Your sister should get a list of the drugs she was given, along with their dosages, if they will give it to her (and they should) so that she can give it to any emergency vet or when traveling.

    Sending prayers and good thoughts.

Sister called me back. Vet doesn't think any long term effects. I have never heard of this happening but her vet said it happens occasionally. Thanks for the advice on getting the meds/dosage. If I get more info, I will post it.

We are in the middle of hail and straight line winds right now and I am worrying about the little yellow- not the weather.

Stay safe. The weather forecast out your way on the evening news is scary! I would be fairly sure the doctor monitored her medicine to try to prevent more seizures.
