I don't think it means your dog will always have problems with it but I would definitely wait a while to try it again.
Hi, if you read my previous posts, you know that my dog did pretty poorly on Acana Wild Prairie. I still do not know why since it is a high quality and highly reviewed product. I tried to feed significantly less and did the transition very very slowly, but the stool just became softer and softer. I already stopped feeding her Acana Wild Prairie. But I am wondering, if in the future I want to switch her food again, do you suggest trying a different dog food of Acana or a totally different brand, like Fromm. Does that my dog did not do well on Acana imply that she probably won't do well on all Acana dog food? Thank you!

Double ditto Maxx and Emma. Wait a good while, let her innards settle down.
I, too, would wait and just let her do well with the Royal Canin for a while. She might do OK on Acana in the future but there are so many other choices of good foods that I would probably just try something else before going back to Acana. Or, since she's doing well with the Royal Canin, just stick with that. If my dog has issues on one food, I usually just go with something else. There's no one best food for all dogs, so even though Acana might seem like a great food, it might not be the right food for your dog.
Yes, I will definitely wait for at least a few months to try new food, if we still want to try new food. We have switched back to RC and she is soon as well as before!
I would probably not worry about it, to be honest. Feed her what works. The food rollercoaster is an awful ride to be on and very stressful! Not all dogs do well on Acana. Mine didn't. They did do well on Canine Caviar. Hard to find and expensive, but seems to work for many dogs.
Been on the ups and downs of changing food. One kibble may have excellent ratings but just not be what works for your dog. Some of our dogs did excellent in IAMS but I tried a switch to a better kibble. No go, back to IAMS even though it does not have very good ratings.
Let your dog's tummy settle for a good couple of months before trying another change unless there are dramatically bad results on the food you are on now. Also, consider a fecal test for parasites, not uncommon at all.

I would stick with Royal Canin if she does fine with that, in all honesty it is not going to greatly improve her life quality or anything to be eating Fromm or Acana as opposed to the Royal Canin that she is doing well on.

Don't worry about what is "good" worry about what works.
