    UTI causing nervousness?

My Ellie, a 4.5mo black lab, got a UTI last Friday after swimming in the inlet nearby our house the weekend before.
Anyway, I took her to the vet (that's how it was confirmed a UTI caused by E. Colli bacteria).
Her energy seems to be normal, but drops rather quickly.
Only after 4-6 retrieves of the ball in the backyard, she would lie down.
What's worse is that she's been pretty "dumb" or stubborn.
she does not want to drop the ball by my feet like usual, but either she left the ball near where she retrieved it, or took it to lie down.

She's also shaking a lot - her rear legs are shaking - especially when we do training for "place" and I click on the clicker.
She seems a bit "shocked" by the clicker's clicking noise.

She seems always nervous since last Friday, and she's timid to begin with. I'm just worried that I can't shake the timidity out of her, and it might transform to agression towards strangers, dogs, etc.

    Comments? Insights?

she's now peeing the normal amount, although I think she's still a bit constipated from the medication.
we still have 5 more days of anti-biotic (I think).

I hope she'll be back to normal soon. But is this normal/expected?

It's hard to say without seeing her in person. I'd probably nix any training or anything for a bit until she's back to herself. Stay home, leave her alone, keep things quiet - no company, etc. She could be feeling unwell due to the UTI or the meds.

If the shaking continues I'd take her to the vet. That sounds weird.

The meds could also be irritating her intestinally and the weird feeling from that could easily be scaring her. Sunnie's legs shake when she's scared (she's terribly anxious and it doesn't take much to scare her).

Danny...her pup...inherited some of this. When he has to go to the bathroom on a walk, lots of times he'll pull his tail down and look at me a lot, maybe even walk a bit skewed, until his body is ready to let go.

Her age is a time when teething starts and some can act pretty strange from that too. And it wouldn't be unusual to hit a time when a learning/apparent forgetting theory kicks in. Poor little girlie might just by coincidence be going through a bunch of things at the same time but I'd be keeping my Vet informed, the shaking would concern me. There might be yet another thing going on in her little body

Sounds like she isn’t feeling well - probably at first from the infection, now from the meds.

I’d ease off any training, and if she doesn’t want to retrieve any more, then that’s a cue to stop - I wouldn’t want to exercise if I was feeling yucky, either. The leg shaking concerns me more than the apathy towards running and working - might want to call the vet and ask if it’s something you should be concerned about.

    Thanks everyone!

I took her to the vet on Tuesday for a check up after last Friday's episode. Asked the vet about the shaking.
She was shaking when the vet handled her, but she wasn't aggressive at all. (she wasn't shaking the Friday before when the vet handled her).
The vet said it could be the meds or just plain her UTI condition.
He advised wait until a week to 10 days after the meds stopped and flushed out of her system.

She started teething about 2 weeks ago. I just saw one of her teeth fell out after breakfast yesterday (Thu).
And she had been mouthing my hand starting about a week ago.
I got a baby monitor beside her crate ('cause my bedroom is upstairs), and I heard her busy with the chew toy every morning since 1-2 weeks ago.

We'll see how it goes and hope for the best!

Happy to report that Ellie is now her own self again.
After her uti medication, she was still acting kinda weird, depressed-like.
So i called her breeder and arrange for her visit to the ol kennel. Ellie saw her mom after two months apart. She was so exicted that she peed herself.

She's been herself since Sunday. Eager to learn and to please. Especially love to play fetch!

    Thanks for all the mojo!
