    Total lunar eclipse Sunday night.

You may or may not be aware of Sunday nights' eclipse. The total eclipse will be visible throughout eastern North America, all of South America, and western Europe (there, it occurs Monday morning). In the eastern US and Canada the moon will be completely eclipsed a little after 10PM Eastern Time. Let's hope the sky isn't too cloudy. I plan to stay up past my bedtime because the next one visible in North American occurs in July 2020.

Will you see this special event?

So far our weather report is calling for clouds and rain this evening- Boo! I always try to look for these celestial events. Plus, the moon itself is supposed to look extra large because of its relative proximity to the earth- a supermoon! Super Blood Moon 2015: When and Where to See the Eclipse

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

We are going to see what we can see. But at 9:00 (start time) last night the moon was pretty well obscured by trees. We might have to take our lawn chairs, wine and nibblies out to the park and scare the bejesus out of the teenagers who think they are the only ones who use it at night.

I thought the next one wasn't till 2033?

All of the forecast services I watch have slipped various levels of cloudiness and a small chance of rain into tonight's forecast. Will have to wait and see.

I think they are talking about a supermoon eclipse.

We have a clear view of the eastern sky from our deck, so if the clouds permit I'll have a great view.
