    Raw beef bones

Hello, all... I purchased from an organic beef distributor beef bones for dogs. My trainer said these are great for keeping their teeth clean. Sophie loves hers. I hope these are ok for her. They also sell them at the area pet store where all her products are organic. I give her one at our dinner time so she lets us eat in peace.

    Thanks,
    Sophie's mom

I feed one a week to Sophie, have been doing it since she was about 4 months old. I've always fed the to my Labs, and have had no issues. However there are a few people here who have experienced broken teeth with their dogs.

Just make sure you watch her while she's eating them. We gave them for years, then our dog just broke two teeth eating them, and he's not a heavy chewer. He's not pleased that he doesn't get bones anymore!

Bare in mind not to feed weight bearing bones and you'll be fine.

I'm stopping by the store today to pick some up as the fur kids haven't had one for a week or so. Darn PetFoodDirect is 3 weeks late shipping my order! Gah!

I give raw marrow bones to my dogs at least once a week. My rule is they have to be at least 6-7 inches long. Any shorter and they get get stuck in the jaw, and if too small, can be swallowed whole (especially by my dogs).

If you've never given them to your pup(s) before, start out slow (20 minutes or so at a time), and then take it away. The marrow itself can cause upset tummy and diarrhea because it's so rich.

The cool thing about them, is once my dogs clean out the marrow, I save them and will stuff it with pnut butter and freeze it. They can chew on the same bone for up to 2 months. Once they start getting jagged edges, I throw them out.
