That was a bad place to step

This weekend Jake and I did a lot of yard work this weekend. We cut down 3 trees that were too close to our house. One of the trees has some old fencing that had been lodged in it, so jake removed it and threw it near the fire pit. Later that night I went to go tend to the fire (we burned some of the branches we cut down) and let Bacon out. I was wearing flip-flops (mistake #1) and as I walked towards the fire pit I felt some searing pain in my foot. I looked down to see the wire fencing embedded in my foot. I screamed for Jake, who was in the shower. I had bacon act as a crutch and he helped me up the stairs to our house, where I screamed for Jake again. He ran out of the shower to come help me. He immediately got me to the ER where they did x-rays, gave me a tetanus shot, and removed it from my foot. I am on some strong antibiotics and am watching my foot like a hawk for infection.

Moral of this story-wear good shoes or you may end up like me.

This was what was in my foot.

ooooouch! I hope your foot heals quickly without any issues. Did you search the rest of the yard to make sure there wasn't anymore pieces around? Bacon is such a good little boy to help mommy out until daddy could get there.

Ouch, the way that looks I don't think anything short of good work boots would stop that one.
It hurts just thinking about it, bet that is sore today.

She said she got a tetanus shot. Just an FYI, if you have a dirty wound, as this appears to be, then 5 years is the recommended cut off for needing another tetanus shot.

BaconsMom, that photo gives me the willies just to look at! I hope it heals up without issue. I wear Toms and flip flops all the time and sometimes think that they don't offer much protection from injuries such as yours. Yikes!

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”
