    Mommy's Home!

Mardi and Archie here: With the appropriate number and volume of barks, we welcomed Mom home yesterday. Yes, she was a little late. You know, we get in trouble when we don't "come" immediately when called. We'll give her a break on this one.

Surgery went very well and she says there is pain but not as bad as expected. Says it's more in the tissues than in the joint; the joint itself is pain free. Rehab started right away. Don't know why it had to start at the hospital since we're really good at walking here.

A problem happened with the pain medications. One made Mom very sick and she was not able to hold down any food. Come on Mom, haven't we taught you how to "recycle" yet? It took extra days trying to work out which med was causing the problem and getting it out of her system so she could eat. Then she started running a fever so there were x-rays of the hip, ultrasound of the leg for blood clots and chest x-fay for pneumonia and clots. All came back OK but Dad sure seemed upset.

She was pretty tired when she got home last night so we told her we would post an update for her. She says she will try to answer any questions as she can. She's still pretty loopy.

On behalf of our Mom, we want to thank you all so much for the support and prayers. Mommy needed a bunch this time and they have worked. Ah, we're teaching Dad real well about out walking trails. Don't know what they did to him at the hospital, but when Mom even whispers his name, he goes running to her. Human love, who can understand that.

So glad Mom's back home and you took time for a report! Your Dad must have acquired the same acuity of hearing that you guys have. We will continue to send our love and healing thoughts. You should keep vigil and let your Mom know if you sense anything amiss, too!

And who says dogs are not smart. Mardi and Archie, you take good care of your Mom and tell Dad to fetch whenever Mom needs something.

So good to hear you are home Fran, even with some problems at the hospital. Hope you recover quickly with no more problems and are running down those trails with your companions.

good report guys, make sure to keep giving your mom lots of licks and attention, it helps humans feel better. and pester dad if you think mom needs something or isn't feeling good. i'm sure he's going to be extra-attentive to any hints you might give him!
