    A Partner's Devotion

We all know the devotion of our DH, DW, OH, whoever but it's amazing to see it in action. Since surgery, DH has outdone himself. He made a time chart for all the pills I have to take. I never have to wonder when or which one to take, it just appears in my hand accompanied by the command "take". He gets up early every morning in time for the first dose. If he's going to be outside or working in the basement, my next dose is set beside me with strict dosing instructions.

He's there every time I have to get up to be my balance even though that's not much a problem now. On getting up in the morning after he settles me in the living room, he take case of the potty chair bucket, emptying, rinsing and bleaching. He's there to help getting socks on and off often so gently it tickles. I'm working on being able to dress myself but he's always right beside me just in case I need a hand.

Clothes are being washed, more than necessary, so I have the most comfortable pair of socks, pants, etc. Often at nap times, I discover sheets have been changed. He helps me bathing, washing my back, toes, places I can't reach.

Each meal is cook and served like I'm in a 5 star restaurant. He's always been a great cook but he has been outdoing himself attempting to whet my appetite which has not been so great.

He's taken over all the dog care responsibilities, feeding, walking, playtime.

I sleep so sound with the pain meds that while I'm out, he has been vacuuming, dusting and keeping the house clean and tidy.

All of this is done with love, gentleness and compassion. He has made it possible for me to concentrate on healing and recovery. To me, this is the definition of a real man.

You have an amazing, sweet, compassionate husband! I know you would do the same for him but it is heartwarming to hear the praises of a partner. Many thanks to Fran's DH for being a real man and taking such good care of an awesome person!

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”
