Interesting article about thyroid tissue in food and treats

Something I'd never given much thought to.

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

Wow, I'm going to share that w/ some friends who are buying those tracheas in bulk. Thanks!
I was surprised recently to see how many calories were in some of rawhides out there. I think it was a poster at one of the vet clinics. I don't buy any of that anymore, and am glad not to recommend it too!

This comes up every now and then on a raw feeding FB group I visit. I wonder why the thyroid glands are not part of the sale of meat products and sent to pharmaceutical companies to make the thyroxine those of us who are hypothyroid need? The stuff I take is synthetic though, the real thing is much more expensive.

I think we need Barb/Sundance to see this and comment.

Hmm. I wonder if commercial raw diets improve some dogs' "allergies" initially because they are supplementing the thyroid. It also explains the severe loss of weight and other symptoms in some I have known on raw. What happens to dogs fed food high in beef by products? Food for thought--and more studies!
