Archie And The Fly Swatter - Followup

Posted not long ago Archie's reaction to a fly swatter. He was so traumatized by just the sight of it, it broke my heart.

We left the swatter out on the end table in the living room. It was eventually moved to the floor. Last night DH was passing out some treats and I picked up the swatter. Archie did not even pay attention. Called his attention to it in a fun voice. He turned his head and sniffed it and back to the treats. Even "petted" him with it on the back, under his neck and around an ear. No reaction at all. DH stopped the treats and still no reaction.

Phew, made it through that one. Will be very careful taking it out and really whacking at flies making sure he realizes what is going on.

    Awesome Archie!

Polly doesn't mind the fly swatter - it's the flies she barks at if they dare to come into the house!

This makes me so happy to read. Archie is feeling more and more secure in your loving environment that he trusts you even with items that have past negative associations.

Great news! Congratulations! I was really sorry for Archie when I read the first post and sorry for you too to be honest because I could tell how helpless and confused you felt. Actually both you AND Archie. Really good to hear that whatever happened to him in the past, he's okay now and the darn fly swatter is nothing else but a regular piece of plastic or whatever it's made from
