    Do not ever, EVER...

...get a kitchen floor with white grout!!!! Especially if you have 3 labs. And particularly if you live in a place with clay-type soil that turns into brown epoxy when it dries, and absolutely not if "mud season" lasts from October until July.

    Just sayin...

Hah! Even if your floor is linoleum, the tiles are fake and your soil is sandy.

With a wire brush and bleach. (I'm certifiable!) And if you are tempted to do the same, don't wear your best jeans.

Oh, no! That sucks. Hopefully you have wine. That will get the bleach smell out of your nose and distract you from your ruined jeans...maybe you can go for the distressed look

Both of our entrance ways are tile with grout. Did them myself and had the foresight to use a dark grey grout.

Go to HD and get some grout sealant. Only have to do it once a year on the entrance ways. You may need to do it more often in a kitchen where you wash the floor more often. It's a clear liquid, apply with a small foam brush just on the grout and let dry. Does not take long.

I do not regret the commercial grade vinyl time in my kitchen. May not be the ultimate in fashion statement but easy to clean and keep clean.

In our first house i made the mastake of using a light pewter grout and with the kids being little then and the dogs needless to say it didn't stay clean very long. I ended up staining the grout black it took a while using a small acid style brush to paint each grout line but it turned out better than I expected.

White grout should be outlawed! When I was a kid, we had white gout and mostly while tiles in our bathroom (5 kids, 2 adults, 1 dog). My mom would take latex paint and paint the grout and then wipe it off the tiles with an old towel. DH and I had the foresight (and general housekeepping laziness) to use gray grout. Maybe you can color the grout the same as the dirt!

I hear you. I tiled a floor at a workplace once and they chose white. Bad idea. Ever since then, I've been looking at public bathroom floors and noticing the traffic marks. It just doesn't hold up at all.
