I somehow got the brilliant idea to make several of our christmas presents. I am glass etching Beer mugs for Jake (with ducks, hunters, and dog silhouettes) and glass etching pheasants on whiskey glasses for his grandpa. Plus I am finishing up making a giant blanket (big enough for Jake, Bacon and I) for Jake as well. This is going to be a busy last week before christmas....especially because I have to make all of these things when Jake isnt home!
For those who do not know what etched glass is, this is what I am going for with Jake's Beer Mugs. I will be changing up the image on each glass.

That's a great idea. Have never tried. Are you using the etching cream (or whatever they call it)?

That's beautiful. I've read about glass etching, but never tried it. Just gorgeous!
I do the same thing - make plans to make gifts that I don't have enough time for This year, I decided to make folded fabric ornaments. They are really pretty and fun to make. But I've set a goal that may not be reachable.
Oh, I just had a thought - I could make one with dog fabric! That would be so cute! Here I go again....
Last year I knitted something for almost every family member and finished off the rest for birthdays. No knitting this year. Unless I decide to really try to knit that Christmas stocking with the owls on it for my grandbaby that I have the pattern and all the supplies for.
I've never tried glass etching but I'm always up for a new skill. Is the mug you showed one you've already finished? Are there patterns/stencils or are you artistic enough to somehow do them yourself? It looks pretty challenging! I hope you'll show us the finished products!
That is a great idea! I hope you share the finished glasses with us as well as the degree of difficulty.
