We spent last week in Vegas. It was our second trip and we had great weather and a great time again. Here is a recap of our trip. We stayed at The Aria again because you can't beat their standard room for the price and quality, mainly the sunken tub/shower that is all enclosed in glass with a huge double sink. We upgraded to a strip view and my sister who is a travel agent spoke to them and they gave us a room on the 53rd floor. The girl at check in was surprised they gave us this room as they are usually reserved for regulars.
The National Rodeo Finals are on this time of year so the town is filled with cowboys and cowgirls. We love it. Great people for the most part. Polite and fun.
We played MyVegas on our phones and facebook and got free buffets, show tickets and free casino play. If you are planning on going it's well worth the min. effort to get free stuff. We also bought Groupons and Travel Zoo items to save money.
The first thing we saw on the way to the ARIA was the NHL Arena. It was only a shell last year. It's set to open in the spring. I think they are going to show 13 second UFC fights.
The Aria free tram and a few views. They had to tear an unsafe tower down so it really opened the view. We could see from Planet Hollywood all the way to Mandalay Bay with mountains in the background. Basically a plane would take off, get into the distance almost out of view and another would right behind it. All day long. Incredible.
The first night we went to KA at MGM, it was a pretty amazing show. The tickets were 4th row and free from MyVegas. After we went back and played slots for a bit. Pretty low key. No photos. The next day we got up and hit the strip for sight seeing.
Caesars Palace for some sports bets on the Stanley Cup. For me and some for Christmas presents for friends.
The Mirage was out next visit. They have an all you can drink beer with the breakfast buffet. Top notch. Lots of cowboys staying there.
The Bellagio Christmas Display is about a nice as anything you will see.
The Classic Car exhibit at the LINQ. You could buy most of them except cars like Herbie and they had a limo JFK drove in. Found a free coupon online otherwise I don't think we would have went.
Went to the Paris a few times. Pretty entertaining. The view from the Eiffel Tower is great. An intoxicated British girl told us she loved us Americans. I said, We are Canadian, eh. She then gushed about Niagara Falls, my accent and how she loves us Canadias. No n. She was pretty funny and I laid the accent on pretty thick with the about and boot.
Bought a Groupon for the Taylor Made Par 3 Golf. It was for 9 holes for two, a cart, 2 beers and driving range. Club rental extra. It was a small par3 but it was in decent enough shape and didn't take too long. We loved the fact that we played golf with massive airplanes buzzing over our head. One which I couldn't get a picture of I felt I could almost touch. Scared the hell out of us.
Rented a car and drove down to the Hoover Dam. Impressive to say the least.
Stopped by the Pinball Museum. They had a hundred or so pinball machines that you could play for .25 to .75. Vintage and new. This one was in a store when I was a kid it was funny to see it again.
The best part of Las Vegas is hands down Fremont St. All free entertainment. Music on three stages. Light Music Show on the canopy. Street performers. And cheap craps tables. It was my first time playing for $3 it was great fun.
My Craft Beer and Tequila Shot with a Scorpion. Bartender made fun of me for not swallowing the Scorpion. That was fine.
We went to see Penn and Teller at the Rio. We also bought a Groupon for the Voodoo Zipline. They basically put two of you in a double chair side by side, strap you in and shoot you from a building 500 ft in the air down to another and then backwards to where you started it. It takes about 1:30 and it was the worst time of my life. I don't like heights. This is a picture of the strip from the rooftop. I don't have any photos of our zip ride.
We did a few other things like ice skating on the pool at the Cosmopolitan and getting dressed up in our Vikings shirts and watching the Thursday game from a sports bar at MGM. We dipped in and out of most of the Casinos on the strip and I collected $1 chips along the way. That was our trip for the most part. Thanks for viewing.
Hahahaahah, only in Vegas can you have all you can drink beer with ur breakfast.
Thanx for the tour, I don't get out much and it's good to see the changes going on. Glad you had a good time. By the way, nice room, you made out.
What in the world is a Beer and Tequila Shot with a Scorpion and why would you ever order such a thing??? I have the heebie-jeebies just thinking about it! Thanks for the tour of Vegas. Sounds like a great time minus the scorpion!

Vegas is on my "someday" list, I want to do what you guys did, tour the place, not into gambling. May play a little card game, but the big things would be all the cool buildings with their own atmospheres, and getting out to the desert and local-ish stuff like the dam and ghost towns.
Thanks for sharing, and for the tips on good free stuff!

Looks like an awesome trip. The only time I got there was when I was about 8, moving from CA to Mass. To say the least, it was nothing compared to what it is today.
Thanks for taking us along with a photo trip.

I am glad you enjoyed your trip again. Its nice to see someone who comes to Vegas and actually realizes that's its about far more than gambling, alcohol and strip clubs. There is so much to do here, so many great shows, great scenery and yes beer for breakfast
Great photo essay, thank you for the tour!

I've never been to LV and enjoyed the "tour"! And I was doing well until I got to the photo of the glass with the scorpion in it! Good heavens! Gives me the willies also, just to see a picture of it. I'd probably get a little lightheaded to witness it in person! Blech!
I go to Vegas every now and again but I rarely go to the casinos and places like that. I live a couple hrs from there. great pics and glad you had a good time!
