    New Years Resolutions?

Are you the New Years Resolution type? Or have New Years goals?

I am, but I haven't quite figured them all out yet. I typically have a few for each aspect of my life: health, finances, career, dogs, etc.

What are yours? Anything big for 2016?

I've never done these. But I do have two big plans.

One is to take my son (11—but he's 12 in February) to Iceland for 10 days. Just because. My husband will stay home w/ Hoku, because we don't want to board her. Anyway, I've traveled a good amount (as has my son, as well as lived abroad... he's a great traveling companion), but never there, so I'm sort of excited.

The second is to work on a project I am starting in Sicily. Again, it's going to be harder for me to go now because of Hoku—I'll miss her horribly. But it's an important and exciting project, and a challenge, and I'm looking forward to it.

Ok. I also want to bike more again, and / or get to the gym reliably. I've dropped the ball on that since spring. I've been active, but not as active as I'd like.

I resolve to not let people who are as resolute as you are "get to" me.

    Just kidding.

I'm one of those who don't make resolutions. If I need to do something, I just do it regardless of time of year...and sometimes I'm successful. Making a resolution out of it, though, practically guarantees failure.

My blood work came back with elevated cholesterol and possibly elevated blood sugar so I started my resolution to bring these things down early. I have started eating lentils. It's a really good recipe but I think I'm eating too much. The cleansing process is a little too intense. I may be off the resolution before the new year begins.

If it's taken you a year already, you're already really good at it and should obviously just keep it up

I'm terrible with goals and objectives and all my New Year's resolutions fail miserably so I no longer make them. If I do want to set a goal, I don't wait for New Years Day to start...however I do always need to get back on track with eating right and getting to gym regularly as those two things always get derailed due to holiday activities and travel this time of year.

I don't really do New Years resolutions, if only because I want people to feel empowered to make a change at any time in the year. But I have been reflecting a lot during my holiday break and think I'm ready for a big life change, maybe moving or something. Only time will tell!
