Starting the New Year off right... coming down with a cold. Dang it. But while sitting here with the blahs I've found waterdogtv.com. Their SRS videos are pretty cool, though I sorta fast forward through the dock-diving competition.
I think because they are producing these things as a product for TV, they have the camera angles and diagrams, not to mention the play-by-play that really makes them fun to watch. It is difficult to find good video of retriever field sports. Usually the wind is making the audio sound like a constant freight train, and after the dog leaves the line, they quickly become little dots WAAaaayyy far away. It's almost impossible to tell if you're seeing good dog work or not.
I think these videos provide an interesting sort of tutorial on how factors (wind, terrain, cover) influence a dog, how judges employ suction, and also how dogs and handlers work as teams.
Just finding it kinda cool to watch.
