Ortho follow up for the shoulder

Saw my Ortho last Monday to get results from the MRI. Not good. First MRI back in Sept showed one small tear. This MRI shows the original tear is now 1.7cm and there is a new 2cm tear in another spot.

Ortho said surgery is the only option for repair. Said it's a routine procedure, but the recovery is between 2 and 6 months, no work for at least 2 months. I scheduled the surgery for March 11th, after we get back from Maul.

Rotator cuff tear? I've heard the recovery is worse than the pain from the tear. Good luck!

Bummer. Hope your vacation proves to be as pain-free as possible...at least nothing was scheduled to interfere with that.

Plenty of time to come to wish you good luck/recovery/etc., so...just...Enjoy!

That really sucks, I am so sorry! At least you have a fabulous vacation planned to distract you prior to the surgery, enjoy!

Well phooey. Will you be able to walk Sophie on the leash while you recover?

Well, that sucks. Hopefully the procedure will be as "routine" as your surgeon claims it will be.

I hope you have a wonderful trip to Maui. We went once and we had the best ribs we'd ever tasted at some little joint. I think we ate 3 meals of ribs in 2 days. I get motion sick, so our drive up to watch the sunrise on Haleakala and the drive around the island to, where is it, Hana? I ended up motion sick on both those drives, probably because I wasn't the one driving and my husband can make me motion sick in a parking garage. They were both wonderful excursions, though, and I'd do it again, just be better prepared. Enjoy every moment of that trip!

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

So sorry to hear you are having trouble with your shoulder. Knees and shoulders seem to go bad as we age and maybe it's from overuse.

Hope you can enjoy your vacation and not think about your impending surgery. My minister had shoulder done and he was back to normal in about two months and felt so much better. Hope yours is as successful.

Enjoy your vacation and think of it as pre-recovery time.

Rats! Be careful on your trip not to irritate it. My new mantra, be consistent with the physical therapy and have patience as it is going to take some time to heal. Sending good thoughts.
