So the puppy got in trouble.....

She is 4 months old and decided it would be fun to chew up a pencil

So my wife found her shredding a pencil in her bed and called the vet. The vet said if she just did it to bring her in asap !
They forced hydrogen peroxide down her to make her vomit the wooden shards up. The vet said if they got in her digestive track it could be serious.
So this morning we gave her a small amount of food and she threw it up. we continue to monitor her water intake and tiny amounts of food intake.

    Naughty pup!

She looks exhausted after her ordeal. You might want to put her on a bland diet for a while, overcooked white rice and boiled chicken.

Sending good thoughts and mojo that she will recover quickly.

Poor thing, she's probably exhausted from all of that. And maybe even still a bit nauseous from the peroxide. We had to make our Reggie do that once we he was probably around the same age because he swallowed a huge chunk of a rope toy.

It's no fun when they're sick, and even worse when you have to make them that way.

    Poor baby!

Several of ours have shredded pencils over the years with no ill effects ...

With some of the things I've seem my beasts ingest over the years, I'm thinking shredding pencil is pretty minor. My Clancy ate a good portion of his wood dog house, and to prevent him from eating the rest of it, I'd give him 3 foot long rough cut 2x4's to chew up. Never had an issue. My opinion would be he ingested very little of the pencil to begin with. When they get something like that, the fun for them is in shredding it, not eating it.

And while I don't want to chastise the OP, the puppy didn't get in trouble, the puppy was doing what puppies do. It's our jobs to know and expect they will get into anything they possibly can, and do everything possible to make sure they can't get into something which could harm them. Sophie is 4 years old, and will still grabs stuff she's not suppose to have. I watch her like a hawk to make sure she doesn't get into to much trouble. You really can't take your eyes off a puppy for even a second. If you can't supervise, crate them.

The little lioness is feeling better this afternoon. No more throwing up and enjoying the 70* temps.
