She sounds like a real female dog. And not the cute 4 legged kind.
This morning the rescue person texted me saying she never knew that Monster(chihuahua) had issues. I responded back that I told her weeks ago to which her response was he was a puppy I just assumed he would grow out of it .
I told her the dog had hydrocephlis you don't grow out of it. They either have it or they don't. I explained that he needs a neurologist could also have a possible liver shunt and she's like I'll get my vet to look at him. I told her he needs a specialist and that her vet doesn't have a neurologist or an MRI machine.
I told her not to worry BC I was keeping him and would have him takin care of. She then said well you need to pay the 375 adoption fee (What?). She hasn't put a dime into this puppy my friend where I got the litter from Boughy the first tub of formula I bought the second and someone donated the 3. My cat rescue donated goats milk. A breeder friend of mine donated some dry food for small breeds. Other than 5 cans of wet food she gave me nothing. I also paid for his first working this week. He doesn't have shots as of right now. So basically she wants 375 for the work I've done.
I have the paper which signed him over to the rescue so she has no proof that he is the rescues dog. Momma bear will protect her cubs dont mess with my babies or I will come at you.

You are finding a new rescue to work with, right? When this one loses you maybe the organization as a whole will smarten up. Stick to your guns, keep the monster and don't pay. The nerve, boy.

Be careful! I've seen rescue situations like this get sour and get courts involved. Last thing you need is for them to file larceny charges against you. Not having the surrender document is just one piece of evidence. If the situation turns into a legal battle it would not be good if they discovered you withheld it, or worse, destroyed it. Hopefully this can be resolved amicably.
I honestly think she's in it for the money. She put nothing towards his care why is she so eager for the adoption fee. I have a sheet of all the care he needs costs for the neurologist, the ultrasound, worming and the cost of 3 different vet opinion that came out of my pocket. I didn't care BC he needed it.
She was ok with me keeping him if I paid the adoption fee well my costs well exceed that and I haven't even had the MRI done yet.
She also approved someone for him when he was like 3 weeks old why I don't know BC I told her he had issues. I emailed the adopter about his issues and told her I wanted to be upfront about them. The woman is out if the house almost 10 hours a day and can't stop home. She realized that she coudnt do that with him. He needs to eat 4 to 5 small meals a day to make sure his sugars are ok.
I think I'm sticking to cat rescue. My hearts too big I guess for this kind of work.
I'll let you know what happens.
She sounds like a complete loon. Bless you for rescuing and fostering. I know I couldn't do it. I'd be the biggest failure ever. Every time I bring it up DW gives me the stink eye and tells me no f'n way.
Show the person your vet cost receipts and tell her there is your money. Either that, or she can pay the vet bills and you will pay her the $300 whatever.

That's nuts. All rescues that I know of allow foster picks first. The point is to find them good homes, especially if they have medical issues. That's why we kept Fran.
She always charges her fosters which is fine I don't mind paying an adoption fee if they actually have done something for the dog. That adoption fee is the cost of the shots, the neuter, microchip and heartworm/flea and tick treatment for the month. She has done none of that for Monster.
The only thing she has given to his care was 1 can of formula and 5 cans of food so if anything maybe 35 dollars which I would gladly give to her.
I'm sorry but get away from her. She's not good people.
