    Surgery this morning

Had surgery this morning. I'm still a bit groggy from the anesthesia, and my right arm is still numb from the nerve block, so I'm typing left handed, which isn't easy!! The good part of the block is I'm not feeling any pain yet. I'm sure it's coming though!

It turned out that one of the tears was much worse that what showed on the scan (not sure which one the Doc told DW) so he actually had to open up the shoulder to stitch it up, so I'm sure the pain level will be worse, and the rehab will probably take a bit longer. I'll k now more when I go back for my follow up on the 23rd. The asked me to sleep sitting up tonight as the nerve block may affect my diaphram a bit to.
    .
They did give me Diluaded and Percocet for the pain so I'm pretty sure this is going to hurt for a while.

Thanks for all the good thought and wishes. I've been though a lot in the last few months, and honestly, the support everyone here has given me means more than you will ever know. I'd come hug every one of you if I could.

Sleep sitting up, huh? I hate that. You'll have to try to pretend you're on a plane going somewhere excellent- did you already do the Hawaii trip? I hope the nerve block will allow you to get some good sleep tonight. I'm glad the surgery is behind you and you can look forward to better days.

I am glad the surgery is over for you, on to the healing, as pain free as possible! (Those meds should keep you loopy for a while, at least!) Take it easy and let your DW and Sophie take care of you.

At least the surgery is over with...that's a good start.

When you go to sleep tonight, make sure you use something to prop your head straight so that you don't end up with an ear to your shoulder or you'll hurt like heck in the morning. One of those little travel pillows that are shaped like a toilet seat (well, they are) would be a good thing.

All good thoughts headed your way for quick uneventful healing!!!

Oh the memories! I had basically the same surgery in 2010. Nerve block was great for 24 hours but the day after was not as bad as I thought. Sleeping sitting up was a PIA. I didn't sleep well for 2-3 days but the drugs let me catch up in my recliner! Not being able to take a shower for 5 days was the worst part for me. DW helped me with bathing out of the sink but I hated the dry hair shampoo. Take it easy, do what your DW tells you! I hope you do better than I did with Crafther! She was ready to tie me down after a week!
