    Chick pics - Day One

I don't think I said anything at the time but over the course of the last year, most of the chickens I had raised three years ago died. Almost all of them had a deformity of some kind. I was very unhappy and, with two hens left, had decided I wouldn't order from that same group anymore. They clearly have serious problems in their breeding program. But this tick season promises to be absolutely awful so today we picked up six more chicks which brings me to the new Chick Pic of the Day.

    Enjoy!

    How cute they are!

Loved it when we could have chickens. Did prefer the bantams though.

In my youth days, we had chickens and ducks and horses. Here was one hen duck that would follow me around everywhere I went in the yard. When I would stop and sit down, she would come over and jump on my lap and stick her beak up my nose or in my ear or nibble at my ear lobe. I was about 5 or 6 years old and my Dad said she was in love with me!!! AH the good old days with no cares except when do we eat.

She went missing one day and I looked for her and found feathers and blood, probably a coyote got her. It broke my heart.
