I need to change Cookie’s name to Escape Artist

Yesterday I was doing some training with Chloe in the front yard, pups carrying on from behind the fence in the back. Afterwards, because she had done well, I was tossing some fun bumpers. Cookie went nuts, hurling herself at the fence. I turned around for a minute at one point and when I turned back, there she was ... out front with us.

Today, I had her in an ex-pen in the other room to take a break from rough-housing with her sister. Came back in a few minutes later and the ex-pen was locked, but empty.

Both the back fence and that ex-pen are four feet high.

    Grrrr ....

OOPS! Sounds like Cookie has some special powers. Be interested in finding out just how she did that.

Little monkey. I googled up women escape artists, there are some. But maybe I should have googled up women high jumpers. It's quite a jump to get out of an ex-pen without knocking it down. I'm guessing she could partially climb the fence but maybe one mighty leap cleared it too? No security cameras around to catch her in action?

Four feet is hardly a challenge to the average Lab. Once they learn how to jump, there isn't much stopping them!!!!! I had a 2.5' fence around my garden when Bruce was a puppy. He could clear that fence from a stand still when he was 5 months old!!! Pffttt...... 4 feet???? You'd better get about 8 feet with concertina wire at the top!!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!

FWIW - My girl Ella could clear 5' tall Cotswold stone walls doing retrieves like they weren't even there!!

Annette all I can say is you are in big trouble!!!!

Haha! Welcome to life with an escape artist! Lol

She's about the same age that my Dixie girl was when she figured out her escaping abilities. Hate to say it, but my girl only got worse about it as time has gone on. I can't keep her in anything to save my life. She scales 6 ft walls like they're nothing. She'll climb any height fence. If climbing is hendered, she just mangles whatever fence is in her way. She forces open gates if that's an option. She's manged MANY crates; wire and plastic... Doesn't matter how they're made. She breaks plastic buckles on collars, she slips out of collars with metal belt style buckles that I'd swear shouldn't be able to be slipped out of. She's broken leashes. She's broken chains. She's broken tie out cables. And the sad part is, most of the time she does these things just for the challenge. And once she KNOWS she can do it, she'll keep doing it. She sure knows how to keep me on my toes. Lol

Maybe you should try agility with her instead of obedience????

I have one of my 11 wk old pups back for a week while the owners are on vacation.... Could be fun... LOL.
Was it Cookie or Sassy who was limping a few weeks ago? Kiku cleared my front fence once at ~9 mos. Never again after I gave her a "what for" she never forgot! Yikes that is so scary when they do stuff like that.

It was Sass (which is why I was separating them - she’s fine with long walks, running, jumping, pretty much anything but wrestling with her sister - that occasionally still causes a limp) ... but if Cookie keeps this up she may end up limping too!
