OMG Thank You For The Snake Training!

I had taken my 2 1/2 yr old Buddy to a Rattlesnake Aversion training last weekend. He did really good on their course but that was in a controlled environment, on a leash (we live very rural and he is never leashed) with a training collar by someone other than me. Buddy is a rabid ball chaser that appears to have tunnel vision focusing on his ball when playing. My biggest concern was him chasing his ball not noticing his surroundings.
Today while tossing his ball I noticed he was not retrieving the last throw. He was circling the area where the ball landed so I went to take a look. I saw the ball in the shade and wondered why he wasn't going to get it, and then saw the snake! A big 5' Rattler just a few feet away and pissed off. Camouflaged in the pine needles and hard to detect.
I praised Buddy, removed him from the area and dispatched the snake. I guess the knucklehead is brighter than I give him credit for. Extra treats today for Buddy and still praying for a bite free year.
I'm 100% convinced that Rattlesnake Avoidance works and hope that anyone living in snake country looks into this training. It could end up saving you thousands of $$ in vet bills with pain and suffering for your pets.

    Wow, way to go Buddy!

We camped in the desert this weekend and had our eye out for them the whole time. Ended up finding one about 75 yards from camp last night. I kept Thor next to me while my husband happily went to photograph Mr Buzztail.
