    Kimber's annual Easter Egg Hunt

So did anyone else hide eggs for their labs? We've been hiding plastic eggs with treats in the yard for Kimber for many Easters now; we don't have kids so this is my way of participating in the egg hunt tradition. Kimber did a great job finding the eggs this year. I used cheese as the treat, so she may have been extra motivated.

That's a cute idea! What does Kimber do with/to the plastic eggs that the treat is hidden in? Does she break them open and get the treat herself or does she bring them to you for praise and assistance?

Good thing you didn't advertise it and have all 9,000 eggs found within seconds by a hoard of eager dogs! Note the sentence about acting like "rabid dogs"?

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

It's self-service. I close the eggs about 80% so if she squeezes them ever so slightly, they pop open. I think the ones I've been using for years have gotten brittle though- two broke when she bit them. Yikes!

And that PEZ thing was cuh-razy!

I'll bet it was fun to watch her find them. That was to bad that the adults ruined it for the kids in the Easter egg hunt.

This is our second year to do this with Gracie and Maddie, Pinks won't even try and look. We use the plastic eggs and drilled a hole in one end to let the "aroma" out so they can track them. This year we used liver we dried the day before and still had a strong smell to them. Maddie did great, Gracie figured out that where ever we were standing there's an egg laying around so she ended up just following us on the first hunt. On the second hunt we sat on the porch to see if Gracie would use her nose but at 10 1/2 she's become set in her ways so we gave in and helped her out a little.

That's so awesome! I'm part of a meetup group that does that at a local park. We had it this past Saturday. Our pup is too young to do these things yet (hasn't had his last round of shots), but we took the older dogs (a wiener and a labradoodle). There were about 30 or so people/dogs that joined. It was a lot of fun and the dogs love it so much...
