Aye Mates,
The finished pastel rendering of a stranded vintage style canvasback decoy under stormy skies will be off to the framer tomorrow. A donation for a memorial scholarship in honor of C.O. James V. Spignesi Jr., a patrol zonemate o' mine that was shot and killed in the line of duty on 20 NOVEMBER 1998. The piece will go to auction on 4/16/16.
Composition includes an antique style decoy anchor with Jim's retired badge number "648" on it. The line from the decoy to the anchor is severed, symbolic of Jim's life having been swept away in one fleeting moment, many left to endure the storm that has followed.

Mike I think you've outdone yourself with this one. I can certainly tell your whole heart was put into this.
Can you post a link to the auction????
Such a beautiful memorial piece. Jim is certainly smiling down saying, "Well done mate".

Barry,
There is no link to the auction which will be held live at a fundraiser banquet similar to that done for Ducks Unlimited, NWTF, DELTA WATERFOWL, etc. There will be about 300 people at the event which is the approximate seating capacity of the venue. Ye can go to our association webpage at Connecticut Conservation Officers Association - CCOA and then scroll down the memo to the C.O. James V. Spignesi Jr. Memorial page. There is a link from that page to the Spignesi Fund that will allow ye to make donations to that fund. Outreach initiatives from the organization have helped folks in need as a living tribute to Jim's legacy of generosity. We have supported families of Fallen Officers, a youngster with neoblastoma, seriously injured law enforcement officers, families of military personnel KIA, the family of a kennel owner / sporting dog trainer that lost everything they owned including personal dogs and client dogs to a tragic fire, etc., etc., the list is long. All of the initiatives mentioned are in addition to a $10K scholarship at the UCONN School of Agriculture and Natural Resources Engineering, Jim having been a graduate of wildlife biology / management program there. We also fund two $1K scholarships at two seperate high schools to which Jim had connections.
Any support rendered to this very special cause is deeply appreciated by Jim's surviving family and his Brother and Sister Law Enforcement Officers.
Respectfully,
Mike

That's too bad Mike, I would have liked to bid on this one!! I did make a small donation a couple weeks ago, I think it's great what this organization is doing.
