Chick pics - Day Thirty Three or something

I've lost track of the days. Look at those sweet butts though. Everyone figured it out.

They are starting to look almost like real chickens. How did you train them to perch in a row? I always thought you were suppose to have all your ducks in a row, now I know it's chickens!!!!!

Things tend to be a little different at our house. Hay is for goats, for instance, although I'm sure that cows still like it too. I do count my chickens before they hatch but that's pretty straightforward since the rooster isn't in with the hens so it always comes out to zero.

On the other hand, my husband got my goat the other day while we were waiting for the chickens to come home to roost mostly because earlier that day they had flown the coop. We talk turkey quite a bit as well.

Oh no! Someone on another forum told me they were Production Reds. I hate raising birds for a lousy three year life span.

These pictures have all been very fun. We're putting an offer in on a house that has the "buckingham palace" of chicken coops (according to my realtor who is a self-declared chicken coop snob). So I definitely need to learn how to raise chickens now!

Good luck with the offer! That's great! Feel free to ask any questions and backyardchickens is a fabulous resource. We started with adult hens we got from a local farm out of the culling pen. It took them a month or so to recover and start laying again but it taught us a lot about chickens.
