Mesh Harness or Easy Lead or is there a better harness

My dog is a puller and have tried many things. I would like to get him a harness but that does not have a color built in. Has anyone tried the mesh kind or Easy Walk kind? Is there something better than others?

what do you mean by "mesh harness"?

Make sure you look at no pull harnesses, most harnesses encourage pulling so you need one specifically built do discourage pulling. Also note the tool is only to help you have control, if your dog pulls that means they need more training to learn what is expected on a walk.

What tool works best depends on the dog and the person. Some harnesses cause welts or loss of fur if not fitted properly. I have used many different ones depending on the foster I have - none work "perfectly" for all dogs.

If we are talking about the same mesh harnesses those are really for small dogs imo. Not good for a big dog because they encourage pulling.

I don't know the sporn/mesh one at all. I have used the easy walk. I find for some dogs they can get out if they are wiggly and it has caused some scratches on some dogs. But works great for others.

Find a store you can try them on and get a refund if it does not work. ANd remember to include training not just a tool.

I've used both. I prefer Sporn by miles.

It's very hard to fit the Easy Walk, and any front pulling harness throws their movement off, which may cause them problems down the line. The Sporn is a martingale, controls by the action around the chest behind the elbows, and actually does the job to discourage pulling. I do use the collar type one, though. But it's the same.

And like Tanya says, it's a tool, to work with while you actually train not to pull.

Oakley had her first puppy class today and the trainer suggested the easy walker. I bought one on the way home but haven't tried it yet. She will give us instructions on use and fitting next week.

I bought something online called a gentle leader I believe. I thought it was a muzzle! Goes around the mouth and you pull from there. Maya is my puller and she HATES it. Believe it or not, she loves her prong collar. I was very very anti prong collar but the trainer used it on her as a puppy and she now kisses it and enjoys walks with it. She still pulls me at times so I think she's used to it by now.

This is so true! If you are in puppy classes, ask your trainer for a recommendation and instruction on how to use it. Or, ask a knowledgeable pet store person. Go to a couple of stores if you need to. Teaching to walk nicely early on is really good.

We were in puppy classes and could not control Mocha on a leash. He was probably only 60 pounds at the time and would leave red marks on my hands. I was so against the prong collar - I thought they were barbaric! But that's the one she recommended for Mocha. She told up how it worked and showed us how to use it. I put it on my arm and pulled. It certainly got my attention, but it wasn't the painful torture device I had imagined. Now, when Mocha see us get the prong, he's so excited! I just don't think the gentle leader would have worked for Mocha, but I have seen it work nicely on other dogs.

I'm not familiar with the harnesses you are asking about. Unless it squeezes when they pull or some sort of correction, it just gives them more power to pull.

So don't rule anything out, right away. And whatever you get, learn how to use it properly. Good Luck!
