    House Selling Stress

This is essentially just a vent post. Bear with me. We sold our house 2 weeks ago, and the inspection was last Friday. After the inspection they asked for lots of repairs, all of which I totally get (minus a few). The majority of them are deck issues and plumbing issues. I have been running around like a chicken with my head cut off trying to get people to quickly come look at the issues since Monday. I have never called so many plumbers and contractors in my life. The issue has been our timeline. Our buyers wanted an answer by yesterday (a 1 day turnaround after getting their requests) but the issue was they wanted us to get 2 contractors opinions on the deck! Nearly impossible in 1 day. I have a friend who is a contractor who was able to come over yesterday to give us a quote. We ended up having to get an extension on our agreement to get the final quotes today. I just want to move to our new house and be done with all this stress! Vent over.

It can be so frustrating, no question! When we've had to get quotes, usually the realtor we've worked with has been very helpful in giving us the names of contractors and helping get things done. I hope it gets done with quickly so you can sail off to your new home and put your worries and your money there! And I hope there's not much worry nor money needed there anyway!

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

You know another option is you could reduce your asking price for a couple thousand and let them deal with it. You can counter offer.

Ugh, this is exactly why we're debating a pre-inspection on our current home before listing and making the info available to potential buyers, then only take offers with no inspection contingency. That's pretty common in Silicon Valley where it is a seller's market. I just want to have an agreed upon deal and not have further negotiations, repairs, etc. Especially since once we close on the new house we will be moving, and our agent will be the only one dealing with our house down here.

I would recommend doing that. The issues that came up in our inspection are things I was never aware of. So they are extra troubling.

Jeff, we did have that offer, however we wanted to make sure we weren't taking too much off. We had a feeling our buyers were trying to push us around.

Don't even want to think about moving. Can't believe they wanted a 1 day turnaround on answers of that type.

    Hang in there.

Fingers crossed you get everything squared away quickly. I can't even imagine trying to get any kind of contractor quote in 1 day. That was a ridiculous demand.

That is ridiculous. Selling our house was much more painful than building our new one because we had crazy buyers. Our realtor earned every penny of her commission by running interference. I hope this is the last thing for you before everything closes!

Agreed. It took 2 weeks for the fence estimate guys to come out. 1 day is nutso.

I worked a miracle. 2 quotes in 2 days, granted 1 guy is a friend.
