Sweet Mardi Gras Is Gone Ahead

Was totally not expecting this today. Had to help Mardi cross the Rainbow Bridge this morning. Was only going to get blood work done and be on our way. When I mentioned the lump the vet wanted to take a closer look. It was not one lump but several, hard, not only on her side but one in a mammary gland. Also, the vet was very concerned at how much she has declined in the past few months, her difficulty walking, obviously quite uncomfortable. She mentioned several medications that might help but would basically just sedate her. Treats, many tears and she was gone. I'm devastated.

Mardi Gras (Cedarspring Riverroad Chamois x Lubberline Martingale) captured my heart at our first meeting. She lived up to her name having a true Mardi Gras party girl personality. Her smile was quick and sassy. She never played with a toy, preferring to cuddle. She was a stinker with her digging and poop eating up until last week. She had a true lab heart, loving everyone and having great tolerance with the grandkids. I'm so glad they were all here last night for Tuesday night dinner, including oldest grandson who is home on a short leave. She loved basking in the sun and hated to have to go out in the rain. She was quick to jump in her pool and splash around. One of her very favorite times were Secret Santa; she would dive into the box and made short order of any wrapping paper to get to the goodies. And being a true lab, anything resembling food or a treat was topmost on her list of life's greatest pleasures. It was a dilemma for her between belly rubs and a treat so the last few months have been filled with both.

My sweet girl, I miss you already so much.

Rest In Peace Sweet Angel One day we will be together again.

Fran - My heart dropped when I saw this. Mardi had a great life, because she was with you, and no one loved her more than you. I hope your memories will help ease the pain as time goes by. I'll keep your family in my thoughts and prayers.
