Sounds like anal gland secretion to me....that's what you want the glands to do so that they don't get filled up/impacted.
Good job, puppy!
Full of poop questions for our 12 week old black lab puppy. During several poops a day, I notice that at the very end of the poop process, he tends to squirt/spray a bit of liquid (sometimes sprays quite a distance). It's not diarrhea, as he has pretty formed stools, its more like a liquid that sprays at the end of the pooping process. Is this normal? Is it anal gland secretion? I never noticed this in our older lab, so I'm just curious if it is of concern??? Hopefully this will be the last of my poop questions!!

I've noticed it with mine if I'm really looking hard enough. Happily we've had no anal glad issues with either of them, so, squirt away kids!

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

I am guessing the only concern would be if they turned bloody. when chili did this for a short less than 1 week time I took to vet with fecal sample and all was normal. got a script, went on chicken/rice diet after fasting a day, and all sorted itself out.
While it sounds a bit of extreme (spraying) it sounds like anal glands to me. I notice my pup's glands drip a bit when she goes but never sprays.
If stools are solid and normal (no mucous) I would not worry about it.
If you are worried, take a stool sample to the vet to be checked to be sure there is nothing else going on.

Read about the anal glands which do this when a dog poops. If you really are worried, I'd bring a sample to your Vet just to see if all is OK.

Luna did the same thing all the time as a puppy. Beginning of her poop was great, then got looser and looser towards the end of her pooping. Totally normal, but if you're nervous, feel free to bring a sample to the vet... but I think you're fine. :-)
