    Eyes

Vet dx nuclear sclerosis on 13 1/2 yr old. Told me to instill drops of Diclofenac Ophth solution to decrease inflammation from cataracts. She said inflammation could lead to glucoma. Anyone have any experience with this issue? Any other thoughts on this issue would be appreciated.

So sorry this is happening. Since we home seniors, have dealt with dogs with cataracts. However, no experience with nuclear sclerosis.

Sending good thoughts and mojo (very powerful lab board vibes).

Please keep us updated on how she is doing.

I don't understand. Nuclear sclerosis is the normal bluing of the eye due to age. It has no effect on vision and isn't related to cataracts.
Are you seeing an eye specialist or a general vet? If the dog has cataracts, that's a different story... The Basics of Nuclear Sclerosis in Dogs | PetCareRx

I didn’t realize that’s what nuclear sclerosis is ... all my oldsters had that and none had any problems from it. Mulder did develop a small cataract when he was 10 (his CERF at 9 didn’t show it, but it was there at 10). It never caused him any problems or inflammation of any sort.

If the OP is truly talking about the age-related blueing, then they need to seek a second opinion as there is no need for medication just for that.

Seeing a regular vet here. I agree with you that this dx does not need any meds and that it is a normal aging issue. I don't want to use the meds if there is no good reason to use it. Thank you for your input here.

I don't mess around with eye issues, I go straight to a Board Certified American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologist (ACVO)

I would suggest to you that you take her to one in your state, I did a search on the ACVO site and got you this list for New Jersey. Best of luck to you.
