not going to get the lady, but still took the steps!

Well, the sad news is, the yellow lab we applied to adopt already has a LONG wait list from people who were already approved adopters. So, our chances are slim to none for actually getting her.

HOWEVER... I'm excited that my husband is finally on board and said it "couldn't hurt" to start putting our information into lab rescues so that when the next good match for us comes along, we'll be ready.

So of course now I'm scouring more rescues and petfinder listings We still probably have a long wait ahead of us, because we have two older cats and two young kids that mean we have to be more picky than average on our matches.... but we're getting there, and I'm so excited to get our new "baby" sooner than later!

Have you contacted Lab Rescue or LRCP?? Home

They always have a lot of dogs looking for homes. Once your application goes through it's just a matter of picking a dog that fits. The only issue you may run into is finding one approved for all ages of children.

    Good luck!!

Thanks all! And yes! I did contact LRCP, so both rescues have our info Now to just wait to hear from the adoption coordinators! I agree, finding the ones ok with younger kids will be the hardest...

We spoke with the adoption coordinator last night, and it went really well!! She said on average it could take about 2 months, and we also added our name to the puppy list. We're aiming for a yellow female, that is anywhere from puppy to 3/4yrs old. But honestly, if the dog is good with kids/cats/other dogs, we'll probably take any color or sex I'm SO EXCITED!!! Next step is the home visit, and then just finding the right match!
