    Kimber swims!

    Kimber had her spinal injury at the end of June, 2012 and was helped tremendously in her recovery by swimming. Friends of ours had a pool they let us use. In late August of 2012 they closed it- and never reopened it. Pools are not common in my area, and I never found another one for Kimber to use. She absolutely hated, hated, hated the water treadmill, so the best we've been able to do is the occasional pond or river outing.

    But on Friday, I found out a friend of a friend, a dog-crazy-friend-of-a-friend, has a pool that she lets people use with their dogs! I asked her if we could use it and she said yes!

    We went yesterday and today. It's a small pool but it's INDOORS and it's HEATED. Kimber was SO excited to see the pool that she started whining and crying to go in. When I made her take a break after the first 5 minutes, she cried until I let her back in. We did a total of about 8 minutes yesterday and she crashed, hard. How hard? She slept 30 minutes past dinner time! Today, she did about 9 minutes, broken in half, and after a post-swim nap, she was up and at 'em so I think she's ready for more.

    I'm so happy for this opportunity. Sure, it's an hour round trip for 15 minutes of swimming- but Kimber's worth it!

    what! what a score, I need a friend like that haha There is a place you can do indoor swimming for dogs (rehab or just to swim) but it's fairly expensive to do on any regular basis.
