Sorry I don't have any good advice with that hope you find the answer soon.
I knew that I had planted round zucchini as well as black beauty but I mislabeled the batches and the black beauties wound up in a spot I considered to be experimental because there was less light. Meanwhile, the round zucchini got pride of place and are starting to produce like crazy. Sooo . . . is there any difference between the two other than the problematic slicing factor? Can I gut them and bake some filling like they're cups? Any ideas?

Interesting, I honestly have never had the round zucchini, so I can't comments as what to do with them. I do have some soups and stuff that have chopped zucchini in it. So maybe you can cut them up and put them in soups. I also had a fantastic pizza made with zucchini, so maybe you can slice them up like pepperonis and have a nice pizza.
First thing that came to mind was can you stuff them? Sure enough there are recipes out there for stuffed round Zucchini

If you got 8 ball, they're most tender if you pick at around 4" across. I don't think you'd have an issue gutting and filling, but I think they're tastiest sauteed or grilled. Good luck.

I've had the 8-ball kind. They seem to have fewer seeds (or smaller). Mine have always been the size of softballs or smaller. I use them the same as a regular zucchini.

I just found out about the eight ball term so it should be easier to search on. Good to know that they're like regular zucchini and when to harvest. Thanks. I'm going to have a lot of these things.
