Can I ask for some prayers

Several weeks ago my wife's younger sister was diagnosed with end stage cancer. Multiple organs, colon and liver the most advanced. Her sister is also developmentally disabled, and blind. She never complained she felt bad, and was completely asymptomatic until 3 weeks ago when she collapsed with no warning. EMS was called and she was taken to the hospital where they discovered the cancers. The oncologist told the family the cancer had been there at least 5 years, maybe longer based on how advanced the cancer is. At the time the doctors gave somewhere between a couple weeks to a couple months.

Last night my wife's older sister called and said she had taken a turn for the worst. Estimates from a couple hours to maybe two days as organs were slowly shutting down. Needless to say my wife was very upset, thinking there was no way she could get back to her family in Utah in time. I told her there was no way she wasn't getting to go and say goodbye. I booked her a flight for this morning, and she arrived this afternoon. So far her sister is still holding on.

I was lucky that the boarding kennel we normally use had room to take Sophie for a couple days, as I'm flying out tomorrow morning to pick up the new puppy. It's been a very long and very rough day. I feel bad I couldn't go with my wife, but I very happy and very grateful that I was able to get her there today. I talked with my wife's older sister this afternoon and told her how sorry I was to not be able to be there. I did tell her even though I wasn't there physically, my heart was there with them. Even taking the puppy out of the equation, I would not have been able to go, with commitments I have with work, PT, etc.

I just ask that you say a small prayer for my wife's family, to help them through this sad time.

I'm sad that this is happening at all as well as when you are expecting the exciting arrival of your new puppy. I wish for your sister in law a peaceful time between now and her passing. I'm glad your wife was able to fly out to see her and be with the rest of her family. Best wishes to her and her family and to you during your adventure tomorrow.

So very sorry for your wife, you and the family.

Although one would think there would have been signs/symptoms, a very similar thing happened to a friend's daughter. She went to the ER for what she thought was a urinary tract infection and passed away a couple of hours later. She had advanced ovarian cancer which had metastases in many organs. She never complained of any pain or problems.

My thoughts and prayers are with your wife and the family during this very stressful and sad time. Also pray that your sister-in-law has a peaceful passing.

Supportive prayers for you that you have a safe trip. Hopefully the new puppy is just what your wife needs to help her through her grief.

I'm sorry this is happening so suddenly and at a time when you have other serious commitments. Your poor wife, it's almost worse feeling FOR someone else than it is dealing with it yourself. Lots of good thoughts for your family.
